Report: Pens Add Rick Tocchet as Assistant Coach


Relaying the news that the team has hired Mike Johnston as head coach, the Pittsburgh Penguins are adding Rick Tocchet to the staff as well.

According to the Pens’ Twitter handle, Pittsburgh has reportedly named Tocchet – a former Penguin – an assistant coach to Johnston.

The team will also search for one more assistant coach – per the Pens’ website.

Tocchet has been an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche and Phoenix Coyotes for four seasons, and was a head coach of Tampa Bay from 2008-10

Tocchet was with the Pittsburgh Penguins from 1992-94, and he won a Stanley Cup with the organization in ’92.
