Report: Tony Granato, Todd Reirden Will Not Return to Pens

In addition to the Pittsburgh Penguins hiring Mike Johnston as head coach and Rick Tocchet as assistant coach, the team will not have Tony Granato and Todd Reirden back with the staff next season – per the Michelle Crechiolo of the Pens’ website.

Granato has been an assistant coach with the Penguins since 2009, and Reirden since 2010.

Also, Jacques Martin will stay with the club on a ‘yet-to-be-determined’ basis, while goaltending coach Mike Bales and video coordinator Andy Saucier will retain both their jobs – per the Crechiolo.

The team will look to add one more assistant, but a date as to when that will occur is unknown – per the Pens’ website.
