Report: Pens Take Forward Kasperi Kapanen in First Round

The Pittsburgh Penguins have “Finnish-ed” the first round.

With the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Pittsburgh selected forward Kasperi Kapanen of SM-liiga in the Finnish Elite League.

Kapanen is the son of former NHL player Sami Kapanen, and is listed as a right wing with a right-handed shot.

Kapanen took to Twitter after hearing he was drafted.

In 47 games for SM-liiga last season, Kapanen recorded 14 points (7G, 7A) and skated to a minus-8 rating, per hockeydb.com.
