Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Release Preseason Schedule

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Pittsburgh’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, has released their 2014 preseason schedule via their Twitter handle.

They will have three preseason tilts. Here’s who they play:

  • WED, OCT. 1 – UTICA COMETS – MOHEGAN SUN ARENA at CASEY PLAZA
  • SAT, OCT. 4 – HERSHEY BEARS – MOHEGAN SUN ARENA at CASEY PLAZA
  • SUN, OCT. 5 – at HERSHEY BEARS – GIANT CENTER

The WBS Pens’ regular-season schedule has yet to be announced, but they’ll look to replicate their successful 2013-14 campaign.

Reaching the Eastern Conference Finals of the Calder Cup Playoffs, WBS would then go on to lose in six games to the St. Johns IceCaps, but certainly had themselves a season they won’t forget.

They might want to forget their Game 6, 5-0 ouster though. Yikes.

John Hynes will be returning as head coach of the WBS Pens, and players to watch for this season – assuming they’re in WBS – are defenseman Philip Samuelsson, forwards Josh Archibald, Dominik Uher, Scott Wilson, and Anton Zlobin, and goaltenders Eric Hartzell and Matt Murray.

Players who could make the jump from WBS to Pittsburgh this season are defensemen Simon Despres, Brian Dumoulin, and Scott Harrington, and forwards Adam Payerl and Zach Sill.

Stay tuned for their regular-season schedule.
