About

Pens Labyrinth Staff:

Bill Mayer

A lifelong Pittsburgh resident, Bill has been a passionate Pens’ fans since he began going to games with a church youth group in his pre-teen years. The glory days of the early 1990s only bolstered his zeal for the team and the sport. His playing career failed to take him past the high-school level (if you saw him play, you’d know why), but he still participates in the occasional pick-up game here or there.

As a young sports reporter, Bill’s crowning achievement was covering Mario Lemieux’s comeback against Toronto on Dec. 27, 2000. He also covered the Cleveland Browns first game back to the NFL (a 43-0 loss to the Steelers) in 1999. Now a magazine editor, Bill lives in the North Hills with his wife and son.
