After the Flyers were ousted from the Playoffs, Jaromir Jagr former Penguin and Current Flyer announced that he had never been happier in any City that he has played in. Typical Jagr, it was only a couple of weeks later when he announced that he was not sure where he was going to play next.
It’s the great money grab. Jagr is now 40 and still looking for another big payout. He literally just announced how happy he was playing in Philly and now rumors are surfacing that he is looking to go elsewhere to get more money.
There is one thing that will never change about Jaromir Jagr, and that is he is one of the most selfish players in all of Hockey. I understand players have to make as much as they can while they can, but Jagr has taken that to an extreme. He has made well over $100 million in his career, and still he is looking for more money. At this point in his career, one would think it would be about championships. The Flyers have a talented team though lacking in net but still a very talented team. And he was just so happy to be there. You would think that would be enough.
Jagr finished this season with 54 points and added another 8 during the playoffs. He played extremely well early, but slowed up as season went on which you would expect from a guy that is 40 years old. Though, he was still effective, and effective enough to get paid for another season. He only scored 20 goals for the season if you include the playoffs. And I can tell you that it seemed like most of those goals came against the Pens this season.
So, spare us all the drama that you love to wield while looking for a new home. If you love Philly, stay there and play, if you don’t, go somewhere else. Just don’t tell the world how much you love playing in Philly while your 3 steps towards the door.
