Pittsburgh Penguins’ forward Sidney Crosby has reportedly been named Team Canada’s captain for the upcoming Winter Games – according to the team’s website.
Having been an alternate captain in the 2010 Olympics, Crosby will be donning the “C” for the first time.
This was a no-brainer for Team Canada. Crosby leads the NHL in scoring with 68 points, is arguably the best player in the world, and scored the goal that won Canada their gold medal in 2010.
Chicago Blackhawks’ forward Jonathan Toews and Nashville Predators’ defenseman Shea Weber were named alternate captains – according to NHL.com.
Crosby will more than likely be skating alongside current Pens’ teammate Chris Kunitz – who was named to Team Canada as well.
