3. Beau Bennett is too much for the AHL

Sent down to the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for a conditioning stint following his return from injury, Beau Bennett has been outclassing his opponents in his short time with the Pens’ affiliate, proving his talent is far more than just NHL-ready.

In his past game this Sunday, Bennett registered four assists to power the baby Pens to an overtime victory over Syracuse, figuring in all but one of the team’s 5 goals (shades of Sidney Crosby and his 5-assist performance against the Buffalo Sabres).

While Bennett dominating the AHL is somewhat interesting and mostly unsurprising, it is intriguing in that it allows fans to breathe a sigh of relief, as it seems Bennett’s injury did not force him to regress from the excellent play he displayed during the preseason.

As long has Bennett can carry his newly confident, dynamic play to the NHL level, he should be set to tear it up alongside Evgeni Malkin once again.
