13. Calgary Flames
I have two huge questions for the Calgary Flames heading into 2015-16.
First, can they improve on their underlying numbers, or are they a team that can continue to defy analytics despite reflecting poor possession stats? Their youthful legs and talent made up for a lot of their shortcomings last season, but teams know what they’re about now. They’re no longer a surprise playoff team.
The addition of Dougie Hamilton should prove to be huge for them, but I question whether or not Jiri Hudler can continue his performance from one season ago. If he can, the Flames should find themselves back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs next April.
