Pittsburgh Penguins: What Would It Take to Fetch Tyler Bozak?
Tyler Bozak may be a good fit for the Pittsburgh Penguins third line centre role.
On Saturday, I wrote about how exactly Tyler Bozak can be a perfect fit for the Pittsburgh Penguins. We know he can take over Nick Bonino’s role and we know Toronto sees him as expendable. Today, let’s take a look at what we would need to spend to acquire him.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Draft Pick Bank
The Leafs are midway through their rebuild, but you still know they’re looking to keep their team young. Their rebuild plan still has a lot of time left, and they’ll definitely be looking to turn those old vets into young prospects who will be ready to compete alongside Auston Matthews, William Nylander and Mitch Marner.
Obviously the first thing the Leafs will be looking to load up on, like they have in the past, are draft picks. The Penguins have quite a few draft picks coming up, and they can be seen as expendable. After all, we’re a win-now team. If we’re being optimistic here and assuming we’ll make the final four again, our first round pick will only be in between #28 and #31.
We can consider trading a draft pick to Toronto for Bozak. In fact, a single first rounder or two second rounders may be enough to get the deal done.
The Farm
If draft picks don’t work out, we can always head straight to our crop of prospects. Now while we don’t have that many high level prospects (due to our win-now position), a couple of B level prospect may be enough to get the deal done.
Perhaps players like Zach Aston-Reese or Tristan Jerry can entice the Leafs.
