It’s August 7th, 2017, and it’s a very important day in Pittsburgh Penguins history. It’s Sidney Crosby’s 30th birthday.
The superstar has accomplished a lot in his 30 years on this planet. Let’s take a quick look at some of Sidney Crosby’s highlights as a player.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Sidney Crosby Sweepstakes
Let’s rewind to the year 2005. Sidney Crosby had just put up a sensational season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and was pegged to be the first overall pick in that year’s NHL draft. There was no NHL season prior to the draft, so this lottery really was out of luck. Pittsburgh had one of the highest chances at winning, and they got their man.
Even from then, Crosby had built up hype like nobody ever before. His path to the NHL was similar to Mario Lemieux’s, who were both pegged to be generational superstars from the beginning.
MVP and Many Other Awards
Crosby has had quite a career in only 12 years in the league. He has gotten two Hart Memorial Trophy wins for league MVP, as well as two Maurice Richard Trophies for leading goal scorer, two Art Ross Trophies for leading point scorer and three Ted Lindsay Awards for MVP as voted by other players.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Crosby has already formed a legacy from just his innumerable award wins, proving that he is the best player in the modern NHL.
Three Stanley Cups
Not to mention, Crosby has also led the Penguins to not one, not two, but three Stanley Cup victories. Not to mention, two of these are back-to-back victories.
Crosby does it all and has achieved pretty much everything a hockey player would want to in life, and he’s not even half way through his career yet.
So this is just a little appreciation post to one of the greatest players this league has seen. Here’s to many more season with Sid.
