Pittsburgh Penguin Prospect: Zach Aston-Reese

The Penguins signed NCAA free agent Zach Aston-Reese prior to the end of the season following his graduation from Northeastern. Ason-Reese is from Staten Island in New York City and is one of the newest youths to join the Pittsburgh family. In his final season, Aston-Reese posted an unfathomable 63 points in 38 games and was a Hobey Baker finalist. Aston-Reese is an incredible player and the Pens are lucky to have him; it will be exciting to see how Aston-Reese is as a Penguin. [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette]

Penguins Might Make Late Trade For Center Depth

The Pens lost Nick Bonino this offseason and might be in the market for some center depth before the start of the regular season. Pittsburgh has come up in some trade talk regarding Matt Duchene and Tyler Bozak but nothing has happened yet. September might be a late time to consider a trade but the Penguins might push off a trade or signing until then so that they can find the right player. Center depth would be very useful for the Pens, from wherever they can find it, after losing Bonino. [CBS Sports]

From Around the League:

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Chris Calnan to be a Free Agent

The Hawks drafted Chris Calnan in 2012 and it seems that the player will now opt to pursue free agency next week. The forward, a recent graduate from Boston College, is a big-bodied forward with a lot of promise. Despite facing some injury problems and setbacks he has been listed as #66 of 100 top NCAA prospects. [Blachawk Up]
