Evgeni Malkin had another amazing season for the Pittsburgh Penguins this year.

Scoring 33 goals and 39 assists during the 2016-17 season, Evgeni Malkin was dynamite for the Pittsburgh Penguins. His 39 goals was second on the team just behind captain Sidney Crosby. Of those 33 goals, many were amazing and dazzling.

Here’s my personal choices for his top five goals of the 2016-17 season.

5) January 16, 2017 Vs. Washington Capitals (third goal of the game)

Starting the list is a phenomenal goal by Evgeni Malkin. He dips and doodles his way in cllose, never losing sight of that puck. His impressive stickhandling gets him through the defence and after a few wacks he is able to put the puck past Philipp Grubauer.

To make things even more impressive, this goal completed his 11th career hat-trick.

4)  March 8, 2017 Vs. Winnipeg Jets

This one is just a really nice goal. Malkin stays one step ahead in this play and receives the breakout pass flawlessly.

On the breakaway he shows just how dangerous his wrist shot is, putting the puck in the back of the net with ease.

3) December 5, 2016 Vs. Ottawa Senators

In this goal, Malkin shows off his amazing stickhandling once again. This time, he dekes around both Senators defenceman to get in close. He never gives up on the play and is able to put it in the back of the net with his backhand. Really impressive stuff!

2) November 8, 2016 Vs. Edmonton Oilers

A beautiful tic-tac play on a 3-on-2 allows Malkin to tip in the puck perfectly. This play may not have been started by Malkin but it was finished excellently by him.

1) October 13, 2016 Vs. Washington Capitals

To top off this list is a real beauty of a goal in my opinion. Definitely Malkin’s best of the season, and it just so happens to be his first goal of the season.

Next: Meet Derrick Pouliot

A perfect feed to Malkin in front of Washington’s net gives him lots of space to do something tricky. And he does exactly that. He absolutely dangles Braden Holtby and leaves him wondering what just happened. The goal was amazing, and definitely deserves the number one spot on this list.
