Jake Guentzel was the rookie sensation for the Pittsburgh Penguins last season.

Playing on the Pittsburgh Penguins top line with Sidney Crosby and Conor Sheary, he scored 16 goals in 40 games.

More from Pens Labyrinth

Continuing my series on top five goals by Penguins players, here are my personal choices for Jake Guentzel’s top five goals of the 2016-17 season.

And as always, credits to All NHL Goals on YouTube who put together a video of all 16 goals Guentzel scored this season for our viewing pleasure.

5) April 8, 2017 Vs. Toronto Maple Leafs

Here’s a nifty goal to start off the list. A desperate shot on goal that was fanned by Guentzel ended up getting deflected in by Jake Gardiner. Surprising goal all around but very cool to see.

4) March 5, 2017 Vs. Buffalo Sabres

This one’s a pretty crazy goal to watch. Aside from the fact that the goal had to be reviewed for high sticking, it’s pretty amazing how Guentzel tips the puck in from behind the back.

3) April 6, 2017 Vs. New Jersey Devils

A beautiful two-on-one opportunity turns into a tic-tac-toe play that leaves Guentzel one-timing the puck right into the back of the net. A great goal overall and very neat to watch.

2) February 14, 2017 Vs. Vancouver Canucks

Just a perfect give and go play here executed by Sidney Crosby and Jake Guentzel.

Some great ice vision from Guentzel allows him to dish a pass to Crosby who sends it back to Guentzel for the perfect tip in.

1) November 21, 2016 Vs. New York Rangers

Arriving at #1 on this list is actually Guentzel’s first career NHL goal. And his first was a beauty indeed.

Next: Sidney Crosby's Top 5 Goals of 2016-17

A beautiful wrist shot, which was actually his first NHL shot, flew right under Henrik Lundqvist’s leg and into the net. This goal really shows just how much skill and potential Jake Guentzel possesses.
