Pittsburgh Penguins Daily:

Penguins Sign McClement to PTO

The Pittsburgh Penguins have announced that they have signed Jay McClement to a professional tryout (PTO). McClement is a 34 year old center who became an unrestricted free agent earlier this summer when his contract with the Carolina Hurricanes expired. [NBC Sports]

McClement’s PTO is a Smart No-Hurt Move

The fact that the Penguins signed McClement to a PTO is a smart move that won’t hinder the Penguins if it goes wrong. If McClement comes into camp and impresses the Penguins, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to sign the center to a one-year deal to as an insurance policy and some added center depth. This move would be beneficial because, if it works, it’ll be a wise move and, if it doesn’t, it isn’t such a big inconvenience. [Pittsburgh Post-Gazette]
