The Penguins Should look to add one more solid defenceman more the season starts. Anybody who watches hockey knows how unhealthy the Pittsburgh Penguins are. The Penguins had 208 man games lost (games players missed due to injury) which was the most of the 30 teams.

The defending Stanley Cup Champions are coming into the 2017-18 season with yet again, a brilliant offence. A full season of Jake Guentzel playing with Sidney Crosby is going to help the teams plus/minus rating. The addition of top prospects Zach Aston-Reese and Daniel Sprong are also going to help the penguins offense be among the most dangerous in the league.

The team’s biggest flaw is the health of their defence. Franchise defenceman Kris Letang is a key role in this Penguins defence. Unfortunately, Letang played only 41 games this season missed all of the playoffs due to upper body injuries.

The Penguins should look to rent a defender for a season such as Alexei Emelin from Nashville or Kevin Bieksa of Anaheim. The season rental would allow the penguins to have depth defensively. Last year the Penguins had 14 different defenceman make a start for them, trading for either of these players could help fill the void of constable rotating defenders between Pittsburgh and Wilkes Barre/Scranton.
