The NHL Trade Deadline is inching its way closer each day and the Pittsburgh Penguins will be looking to make moves to improve their team.
The Pittsburgh Penguins need to upgrade one position in particular, and that’s the third line centre position.
We’ve been hauling our butts this season without a legitimate third line centre and time’s just ticking away.
I’ve already written about this a number of times, but our options are quite limited. I want the Penguins to pick up Tyler Bozak of the Toronto Maple Leafs and I want him sooner than later. It makes sense in a lot of ways.
Patience?
Excuse my impatience, but the trade deadline is quickly approaching, and the Toronto Maple Leafs may be looking to get rid of their centre sooner than later.
There’s not a big market for available third-line centres, and we know that more than anybody. We’re holding out for that playoff spot right now but we could really use the help moving forward. We need to keep the success going in this second half and we need as much of it as we can get, as soon as we can.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Tyler Bozak could immediately bring some help to our team. He’s a step over Riley Sheahan and Toronto’s starting to hit a wall when looking at their contract situations for next season.
It’s Not That Easy Though
Now this all of course depends on their status with James Van Reimsdyk. If the Leafs are looking to keep him, it most likely makes all the more sense to trade Bozak soon and free up the cap space for JVR. If they’re willing to let go of him, they may still let go of Bozak, but it won’t be as likely.
My solution? Try to entice Toronto right now. Don’t give them the whole month to consider their options. Let’s get Bozak while our chances are still good.
