The Pittsburgh Penguins are set to face off against the Calgary Flames on Monday evening.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been moving up and down the standings in the last while. With the standings so close at such a crucial time, we need to keep up our strong play to find success. It’ll be tough, but this is when we go all in.

The Calgary Flames are currently fifth in the Pacific Division. We can find success against them if we play our game. Here are three keys to defeating the Calgary Flames.

1) Don’t Worry About our Recent Play

Things have been getting tough at this point of the season. The Penguins won only two of their last five games. Now this may not be ideal, but it shouldn’t get us down. The Flames have also won just two of their last five and frankly, they are a much worse team. Let’s not let our recent struggles get us down, let’s focus on making them lose four of their last six.

2) Sidney Crosby is Heating Up

This is great news. Our best player is heating up when we need him to most. Four points in his last five games is impressive and he’ll only continue to trend upwards. Let’s get the puck to him a lot more as well as to Phil Kessel and Evgeni Malkin. They’ll lead our offence.

3) Get those shots on net

The Calgary Flames have allowed three or more goals in six of their last 10 games. Mike Smith is crackable and we need to figure him out. Let’s get a lot of shots on net and really challenge him. I have a feeling like this will be a high scoring affair. Let’s hope it’s not against us.
