The Pittsburgh Penguins are off to the second round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs!

The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers in game 6 of their first round matchup on Sunday by a score of 8-5.

It was a hard fought game by both teams, but ultimately, the Penguins overcame any challenge and eliminated those pesky Philadelphia Flyers.

Offence

Our offence was absolutely buzzing today, as you can tell from the scoreboard. It was a tight, back-and-forth game the whole way through. The first two periods had the Penguins scoring two goals apiece, courtesy of Sidney Crosby, Carl Hagelin, Patric Hornqvist and Jake Guentzel.

In the third period however, one player in particular shined. Jake Guentzel took absolute control of the game, adding another three goals in the third to round out the win for the boys with four goals! Auston Matthews who?

Defence and Goaltending

Our defence struggled a little at first, but eventually found its bearings, especially in the third period. Matt Murray made a ton of huge saves throughout the game to give the Penguins every opportunity to take this game. The Flyers played hard but ultimately, we were the better team and stuck it through for the victory.

What’s Next?

We’ll be waiting for either of the Washington Capitals and Columbus Blue Jackets for the next round. Their series is headed to game 6 tomorrow night, with Washington leading 3 games to 2.
