The Pittsburgh Penguins are in New York tonight to take on the Rangers in the first matchup between the two teams this season.

The Pens will look to continue what has been quite the run over the past couple of weeks as they face off against the Rangers tonight. For Pittsburgh, this run has not been any one particular phase of the game, but rather a collective effort, and will be hoping that this production remains the same tonight.

Offensively, it has been exciting to see Phil Kessel have consecutive impressive performances. In his last three games, Kessel has posted three goals and six assists, and with Crosby’s amazing play has brought this offense to some of their best performances so far this season. They will be facing a tough matchup tonight though, as they will be trying to score against Henrik Lundqvist, one of the better goalies in the game right now.

Bryan Rust was also seen participating in the morning skate for the Penguins today, so Pittsburgh will be hopeful that Rust can get back into the lineup tonight, as he had an incredible month in December statistically.

After a strong outing from Casey DeSmith against the Wild two days ago, it looks like Matt Murray will be getting the start once again for the Penguins. Murray has been nothing short of incredible since his return from injury, and is a huge part of the Pens success in recent weeks. The goalie matchup will definitely be an exciting matchup to watch play out.

If Pittsburgh can get the win, they will extend their win streak to seven games, which two months ago would have seemed crazy to think of. This is also their last of a three game road trip, so it would be quite impressive if the Penguins could get the sweep in these road matchups.
