The Pittsburgh Penguins offense has continued to score at a high rate, and one of the catalysts last week was the great play of Jake Guentzel.

When you are like the Pittsburgh Penguins, you have multiple guys who can excel offensively on any given night. The Pens scored 14 goals in three games last week, and churned out a 2-1 record, with Guentzel being the driving force behind that great team effort. Jake Guentzel finished the three games with 5 goals and 1 assist.

Guentzel also received the NHL’s third star of the week for his solid performances, and has shown how he can do whatever the team needs. This month overall, he is tied with Malkin for most points on the team with ten, and also leads the team this month in power play points, where he has four.

Some may be surprised to hear that Guentzel also currently leads the team in goals this season, as Guentzel has placed 23 pucks in the back of the net so far. The statistics speak for themselves, but the fact of the matter is that he and Crosby are making this line one of the most dangerous in the NHL right now.

The Penguins have three more games left on their road trip, and it is evident that we will be seeing some more high scoring contests. Murray and DeSmith seem to have come back down to earth after they had been playing stellar over the past few weeks.

What we do know is that if these games are high scoring, that will not be the worst thing for the Penguins, as this offense has proven that they are back to prime form, and poised to produce big numbers night in and night out. With Jake Guentzel playing the way he is right now, this offense will continue to be virtually impossible to stop.
