First Goals of the Season
The Pittsburgh Penguins top-six have provided most of the scoring all season long. However, Sunday night, two Penguins decided to join in on the fun in the win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
Ryan Graves scored his first goal of the season and his first goal as a Penguin off of a juicy rebound.
Playing in his 401st career game, Noel Acciari joined in on the fun as he netted his first goal of the season and as a Penguin to give the Penguins some much-needed breathing room against a very formidable Golden Knights squad. Matt Nieto also got his first assist of the season to Acciari.
Playing Soccer
Star players Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin got so bored using a stick that they decided to get crafty and use their feet and go soccer style. In the offensive zone, Crosby’s stick broke, but he used his soccer skills to kick the puck to one of his teammates and then quickly skate to the ice to get a new stick.
Malkin’s soccer skills might be better than Crosby’s as, similar to the captain, his stick broke. However, Malkin was still able to skate through multiple Golden Knights defensemen with the puck. Also, to complete the trifecta, Malkin even laid a crushing hit at the end of the play.
Two-Way Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic
This past Friday, Penguins backup goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic was finishing up a rehab assignment in Wilkes-Barre Scranton. He was able to get the win over the Providence Bruins; however, even more impressively, he was able to score the rare goalie goal on an empty net. Fast-forward to Sunday, he had a 37-save shutout for his first shutout of the season for a 3-0 Penguins victory.
