3. Bryan Rust: Not Enough Credit for Rusty!

Bryan Rust might not dominate the headlines or be the main topic among fans on social media, but his performance this season for the Pittsburgh Penguins deserves a spotlight. Tucked away from the limelight, Rust has been a force to reckon with, earning him a solid third place on our gratitude list.

While some might have anticipated Kris Letang in this spot (stay tuned for more on him), Rust’s contributions are too significant to overlook. Tied for second on the team with 9 goals alongside Evgeni Malkin and contributing an impressive 7 assists, Rust has accumulated 16 points thus far.

But it’s not just the statistics that make Rust invaluable. It’s the synergy he creates when paired with Jake Guentzel and Sidney Crosby. This trio has become one of the most exhilarating lines to watch in the NHL. Rust brings a unique blend of speed, skill, and tenacity that perfectly complements Crosby’s scoring prowess and Guentzel’s playmaking.

His presence on the line is more than just an addition; it’s a catalyst that elevates the entire unit’s performance. Without Rust, the dynamic and the output of this line could be markedly different. His role in the Penguins’ successes this season is undeniable, and it’s high time we give Bryan Rust the recognition he richly deserves.
