The 3-4-1 Pittsburgh Penguins play the third of their four games on the West Coast/Canadian road trip on Friday, October 25, 2024, against the Edmonton Oilers. The Penguins are in fifth place in the Metropolitan Division trailing the Rangers, Devils, Captials, and Hurricanes.

The Penguins are on a three-game losing streak against tough opponents: Carolina, Winnipeg, and Calgary. Joel Blomqvist was at goal against Carolina, and Alex Nedeljkovic played the Winnipeg and Calgary games.

With Tristan Jarry currently at home in Pittsburgh, Coach Sullivan's goalie choice is between Blomqvist and Nedeljkovic for the Friday night start.

Who is Sullivan selecting?

Coach Sullivan is going with Joel Blomqvist against Edmonton. Blomqvist has appeared in four games this season, starting in three. He is 2-2 with 130 shots against, 118 saved, and 12 goals against. Nedeljkovic is 0-1-1 in two starts with 61 shots against, 53 saves, and 8 goals against.

Blomqvist's save percentage is 90.8% while Nedeljkovic's is 86.9%. Statistically, Blomqvist has been the best goalie on the Penguins team thus far this season.

Edmonton is 2-4-1 through seven games. The Oilers are on a two game losing streak and are in seventh place in the Pacific Division.

Both the Penguins and the Oilers are looking to regain their winning ways. For the Penguins, it will come down to starting strong, playing solid defense, and taking advantage of power plays. The Penguins have not had great success in Edmonton in recent years; the team's last win in Edmonton was nearly five years ago on December 20, 2019.

Puck drop is at 9 PM ET for the Pittsburgh vs. Edmonton game. It will be televised on Sportsnet Pittsburgh and ESPN+. Fans can listen to the game on 105.9 the X radio and on the Penguins app.
