Coach Sullivan Puts Crosby and Malkin on Top Line to try to find offense

Crosby and Malkin are usually together on the same line on powerplays or 6-on-5 situations, but there was a different case in practice on Monday.

When the Penguins got practice underway on Monday, usually you would see Sidney Crosby centering the first line and Evgeni Malkin centering the second line, but that was not the case this time. Coach Sullivan is trying to find offense any possible way that he can, and he put the two together to try to find that spark.

Now will he stay true to this and do it in game against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday? We will see because this season Sullivan does not tip his hand with starting lineups until we see who skates with who in warmups.

What Did the Lines Look Like and Will it Help Snap the Penguins out of their Funk?

The Lines looked like this:

Now this may look funky to some people, but it may work out or may not. There are some fans that think it will help them. You have to try to find anything that will work and try to snap the team out of the current funk that they are in.

The Penguins are getting scoring from their bottom six from players like Noel Acciari, Anthony Beauvillier, Drew O'Connor, but Crosby has struggled. Malkin has been putting together such a big effort and even scored in the last game against the Canucks but the team has not found consistent offense.

Hopefully this change will help them, especially as they get ready to face old friend Marc-Andre Fleury and the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday, and the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday Night, as all are home games.

If they are able to find that spark and find that offense that they are looking for, they should stick with this line combination while Bryan Rust is out.

If it does not work, you still got to do some more juggling and try to find something that works and can snap Crosby and the Penguins out of this current funk.
