The Penguins came into this back-to-back home games against the Senators and Lightning absolutely needing to win both games and get 2 points in each game. But that was not the case as Acciari's turnover that led to Kucherov's game winning goal, sealed another loss for the Penguins in a 5-2 defeat. The Lightning added 2 empty netters and made the game look more lopsided than it actually was.

First Period

The first period was absolutely dominated by the Penguins and one of the best periods of hockey that they have played all season. They managed to score the first goal as Rakell found the back of the net to beat Lightning goaltender Jonas Johansson and it was 1-0 good guys.

The Penguins took a 1-0 lead and a 14-2 shots advantage into the second period.

Second Period

The Penguins yet again can not figure out how to defend or score some goals in the second period of games. It was the same in this one as they gave up 2 goals and went into the third trailing by one.

Tampa Bay got goals from Brandon Hagel off the rush and a very good shot, and another off a one-timer from Kucherov.

Third Period

The Penguins had a powerplay very early in the third period and they made it count as Kevin Hayes on the doorstep took a feed from Rakell and potted it. The Penguins had the score tied at 2 and were feeling good.

Until the inevitable happened yet again, as the clock was hitting around 3 minutes to go in the game, the Penguins were trying to exit their own zone, and Acciari fumbled the puck and gave it away.

Kucherov was there to take it on a mini breakaway and beat Jarry for his second goal of the game and the game winner.

The Lightning added empty net goals from Anthony Cirelli and Nick Paul and that was all she wrote on this one.

The Penguins fumbled yet again 2 points they absolutely had to have and they went 0/4 points wise this weekend and does not look good right now.
