In what was a shock to read is now a conversation that is being had among Penguins fans as General Manager Kyle Dubas is actively asking around on the price of what it would take to acquire Dallas Stars Pending RFA forward Jason Robertson.

Jason Robertson, 26, is an elite scorer in the National Hockey League who has quite the ability to find the back of the net. Robertson posses off the chart play-making skills and strong hockey IQ. Similar to a player the Penguins once had in Jake Guentzel.

There are so many questions surrounding the Dallas Stars roster and they have not gone away one bit. Trade Rumours have resurfaced around Jason Robertson, especially as the stars really have to take a look as the team evaluates its long term cap situation and competitive window with their core players.

The 26 year old elite forward is on pace for a near 100 point season, Robertson and his longtime agent recently changed and that is particularly noteworthy in a sense. Robertson switching his agent could mean a move is in the future or he is looking to see if he can take one more crack at signing an extension with Dallas.

This would more than likely be what a deal would consist if they Penguins acquired Robertson

Dallas Receives

Pittsburgh Receives

Rickard Rakell OR Bryan Rust

Jason Robertson

2026 OR 2027 First Round Pick

Long term extension in place with Robertson

Rutger McGroarty OR Ville Koivunen

Possibly more picks involved IF they don't include a prospect

Robertson who is currently in the last year of his $7.75 million AAV deal is more than likely going to command $12-$13 million dollars per year in his next contract with the long term aspect of the deal coming into play with trade protection.

A trade between both teams makes sense for the short and long term aspects of both franchises. For Dallas, they get a pure veteran with heavy playoff experience in either Rakell or Rust and still have a good player for there playoff aspirations. They also acquire assets to spend at the trade deadline or during the off-season to bolster there roster. For Pittsburgh's end they get the goal scorer and pure play-making winger they have been looking for since they had Jake Guentzel, they also can sign him to a long term extension and have that true star for the now and the future of the franchise.

Another question that needs to be asked is can realistically Kyle Dubas pull a trade like this off and what would Dallas truly want?

Time will tell as to what happens with Robertson's future and can Pittsburgh land the star forward either this season or in the off
