The Pittsburgh Penguins are getting set to take on a team that they usually struggle defeating, the Carolina Hurricanes. And ahead of the Penguins clash with Carolina, head coach Dan Muse provided some lineup dates to the media.
Muse told the media that newly acquired forward from the Columbus Blue Jackets Yegor Chinakov would not be playing since he just made it to the practice facility this morning. He got there right as the morning skate was ending so him not playing is understandable.
Muse also told the media that defenseman Erik Karlsson and forward Connor Dewar will be available to play vs Carolina as Karlsson did not practice on Monday with an illness and Dewar left practice early after taking a stick up high. Having both available for this game is important so it is a sigh of relief that neither will miss time.
Stuart Skinner will get the start in goal for the home team as Arturs Silovs got the last game for the Penguins when they defeated the Blackhawks. It makes sense as to why Skinner is getting this game as it seems there is a goalie rotation going on again.
Per Dan Muse:

-Yegor Chinakhov will not play tonight as he just arrived in town (literally as the morning skate was concluding).
-Stuart Skinner is on the hill.
-Erik Karlsson and Connor Dewar are both available for tonight's lineup.
When the Penguins acquired Jared McCann and Nick Bjugstad from the Florida Panthers a few years ago, they were able to get to Pittsburgh right before warmups of their game and play. It seems that it is a different scenario here that Muse wants Chinakov to be able to practice with the team and get to know his teammates and learn the system a bit before playing.
Chinakov is still young but with him being in PIttsburgh already, he should be available to play on Thursday when the Detroit Red Wings come to town. Penguins fans are eager to see him play as he is not a finished product but has a ton of potential.
But his debut will seem to come on Thursday and Penguins fans will get to see him play in their jersey for the first time. Until then, the Penguins have a mission of defeating the Hurricanes and playing the best game that they can, that should be priority number one.
