Despite recent acquisition, Brunicke should make Penguins opening night roster

The Penguins recently acquired Matt Dumba from the Dallas Stars creating even more of a defensive log jam. But this should not stop Harrison Brunicke from making the Penguins roster on opening night.

Ever since he was taken in the second round of last year's draft, Penguins fans have been eagerly waiting for defenseman Harrison Brunicke to get a chance with the Penguins.

There might be another bump in the road as the Penguins just acquired defenseman Matt Dumba to further help their rebuild or tank as fans call it. But that should not stop Brunicke from doing everything he possibly can to make the opening night roster.

Because of age restrictions, Brunicke either has to go back to his junior team or play in the NHL this season as he is too young for the AHL. But this decision should be easy since he has nothing left to prove in the juniors.

Brunicke almost making last year's opening night roster should say something to fans

It was not that long ago when Penguins fans noticed that after the prospects challenge tournament and after the preseason, that Harrison Brunicke nearly won a roster spot.

He is going to have to prove it again this preseason, but as stated before, he can only go back to his junior team or go to the NHL.

Brunicke does not have really anything left to prove on his junior team and almost making the team after last year's preseason, should open some eyes.

Penguins fans would rather watch Brunicke since he knows how to defend unlike most of the Penguins defensemen

Penguins fans have really been treated to a lot of awful defending the last few seasons and it has been an absolute atrocious to watch.

But if Harrison Brunicke is able to make the team out of training camp and the preseason, at least the Penguins will have somebody that knows how to defend,

Brunicke is good with his stick, knows how to take passes away, knows where to be at all times, he is one to watch if he can make the opening night roster.
