It's still extremely early on in the NHL season to claim any sort of standing in the NHL. The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to go through a rollercoaster of results during the early goings on their campaign. They have won three of their six games and accumulated seven points thus far. That is good enough for the third spot in the division standings, with many teams nipping at their heels.

Almost every team in the Penguins' division is close in the standings besides one team, the Philadelphia Flyers. They bounced Pittsburgh out of the playoffs this past spring, and it has been eating at Penguins fans for months. No one has had a worse start to the season than the Flyers, and everyone in the Steel City cannot help but enjoy watching Philadelphia's hockey team implode.

Philadelphia started off their season with a monumental 7-0 loss against the Penguins at home.

Their losing ways have only continued since. Through the first seven games of their schedule, the Flyers have a laughable 0-5-2 record and have only nabbed two points through those contests. It was a bitter pill seeing the Penguins get knocked out of the playoffs by the Flyers, but this is making it less sour.

Pittsburgh Penguins fans cannot help but laugh at division rivals abysmal start to the season

Philadelphia has come close a couple of times to finally breaking this winless streak and achieve their first win of the season. That being said, they have yet to get over that slide that started against the Penguins on opening night, which was on September 30.

That is a long time to go without a win, and for a team who barely made it into the playoffs last season, this will be a tough hole to climb out of.

Three of Philly's losses have come in one score games, and two of those were in overtime. Although Pittsburgh can certainly revel in the Flyers immense struggles to begin the season, they have to focus on themselves. Philadelphia found a way to the playoffs last year, which saw them get into the postseason on a hot streak. That is something that deflated the Penguins from winning that round.

Things won't be easy for Pittsburgh going forward despite the Flyers early season woes.

They will get their best from the Orange and the Black no matter if they are playing at home or on the road. The bitter division rivals normally find a higher tempo to their games when they face off against one another. They hate each other and even if the Flyers stink this year, they have plenty of talent in their lineup to surprise teams on any given night.

It's too early in the campaign to write the Flyers off when it comes to their chances of making the playoffs this year. They have overcome the odds in the past and it cost the Penguins last postseason. It's fun to witness the Flyers inner struggle to claw their way to their first win after seven games of the schedule. It will be interesting where they go from here, because as of now, it's getting ugly in a hurry.
