The 3-3 Pittsburgh Penguins hit the road to take on the undefeated (4-0) Winnipeg Jets on Sunday, October 20 at 3 PM ET.
The Penguins are coming off of a disappointing 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night. On the same day, the Jets scored eight goals in their 8-3 win over the San Jose Sharks.
It is going to take a massive effort which includes capitalizing on power plays, something the Penguins failed to do (0-5) against the Hurricanes.
How to watch, listen, or stream the game
The game will be televised on Sportsnet Pittsburgh and streamed on ESPN+ and Fubo TV. Fans can listen to the game on WESA 90.5 Pittsburgh's NPR news station.
Fans will be tuned in to the goalie first off the ice Sunday morning
The Penguins are taking three goalies on the West Coast/Canadian road trip: Joel Blomqvist, Tristan Jarry, and Alex Nedeljkovic who was at the goal for the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins win on Friday night as part of his conditioning assignment.
Nedeljkovic practiced with the Penguins before hitting the road for Winnipeg, making many wonder if he could play as early as Sunday. If so, it would be his NHL season debut after being sidelined with a preseason injury.
Blomqvist has done a good job in relief of Jarry who struggled. Logically speaking, it should be Blomqvist or Nedeljkovic at goal in Winnipeg.
In the meantime, the rest of the team is looking to recapture the offensive spark that led them to a Wednesday overtime win over the Buffalo Sabres on a milestone night for Sidney Crosby (1600 points) and Evgeni Malkin (500 goals).
Where the Penguins sit in the Metropolitan Division standings
The Penguins are in third place in the Metropolitan Division. The New Jersey Devils lead the division with a 5-2 record, and the New York Rangers are in second place with a 3-0-1 record.
This is a challenging week for the Penguins with four away games at Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver. Calgary is also undefeated at 4-0 while Edmonton and Vancouver are 2-4 and 1-1-2, respectively.
