The Penguins have announced in a triple player announcement they have signed defenseman Caleb Jones to a two year contract with an AAV of $900k that is signed through until the 2027-2028 season.

Jones, 28, brings 248 NHL games, 181 AHL games of experience with a combined 139 points between both the NHL and AHL. He brings a combined, 27 goals and 112 assists as well.

Jones last season spent the 2024-25 season with the LA Kings organization where he played only six games in the NHL, for the Ontario Reign in the AHL he played 44 regular season games where he accumulated two goals, 19 assists, 21 points and was a -6.

Throughout his entire career Caleb Jones (brother of now Stanley Cup Champion Seth Jones) has won two WJC golds in 2015 U18 and U20, and has played with the LA, Colorado, Chicago and Edmonton organizations throughout his seven season career.

At 6-1 and 194lbs, Jones will bring some toughness and versatility to the Penguins blue line when needed either in the NHL or AHL with the baby penguins. Jones is described as physical, aggressive at the blue line, has an active stick and works hard in any situations he's deployed in.

Caleb Jones will bring some much needed depth to the organization and could even be a good trade piece down the road with good term and a small AAV which will be very movable to a team in need at the trade deadline.
