It is imperative that the Penguins beat their Eastern foes this upcoming week

The Penguins have big games coming up against the Blue Jackets, Senators, and Lightning this week and it is so important that they come away with 2 points in all 3 games.

The Penguins for now sit in the Eastern Conference's second wildcard spot with a 17-17-7 record and 41 points on the season. That spot will get tested this week as the Blue Jackets, Senators, and Lightning all make trips to PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday, Saturday, and Sunday. If the Penguins are serious about making the playoffs, they need to win all three of these games.

Penguins vs Jackets this season:

So far this season, the Penguins are 0-1 against the Blue Jackets. They lost 6-2 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus on Friday November 15th, as it was one of Tristan Jarry's first games back from the AHL.

That game did not go over very well as the Penguins goal scorers in this one were Anthony Beauvillier and Michael Bunting. The Penguins entered the third period of this one down 3-2 before giving up 3 straight third period goals.

The Penguins are going to have to be better in this one and ready to play when the puck drops on Tuesday Night.

Penguins vs Senators this season:

So far this season, the Penguins are 0-1 against the Blue Jackets. They lost 3-2 in overtime on Saturday December 14th from Canadian Tire Centre.

This one was low scoring as the Senators took a 1-0 lead into the third period before Blake Lizotte made it 1-1, Drake Batherson made it 2-1 Senators, and Kris Letang tied it at 2 and sent it to overtime.

Brady Tkachuk scored the game winner for the Senators and come Saturday, the Penguins would like 2 points instead of 1 in this very tight race.

Penguins vs Lightning this season:

So far this season, the Penguins are 0-1 versus the Tampa Bay Lightning. They lost 3-2 in overtime from PPG Paints Arena on Tuesday November 19th. This one was highlighted as the Penguins blowing a 2-0 lead (yes surprise surprise) and losing in overtime as Jarry came all the way out of his net and Brayden Point potted the winner.

The Lightning are the toughest out of these 3 opponents and the Penguins are going to have to be ready on a back-to-back on this back end of it on Sunday, if they want to pick up 2 points.
