It Is Way Past Time to Fire Mike Sullivan

Head Coach Mike Sullivan's time in Pittsburgh has gone way past its course.

The Penguins really need a new voice in their locker room. Coach Sullivan has been there for far too long and his message is old and stale. Every time the team loses a game, he says the same things. The team "competed hard", "stayed in the game", "were so close". It is old and is the same message every single time. It feels like the Penguins are tuning him out and not listening anymore.

It was Evident in Their Recent Loss to the Canucks

The Penguins seemed to be well on their way to a victory over the Canucks on Saturday night, until it did not turn out that way. What once was a 2-0 lead, evaporated into a 3-2 deficit in a 1:05 span in the middle of the second period.

On a couple of the goals, Crosby was out of position and was so slow to getting back on defense. It feels like Crosby is not listening to Sullivan anymore and wants a new coach. He looks really lazy and slow and looks like he is not trying when he is out on the ice.

Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang both look like they don't know how to handle the puck or how to play defense anymore. Especially in the loss to the Canucks, they were bad per usual. Especially when the Penguins had Alex Nedeljkovic pulled for the extra attacker and Karlsson had the puck. He was lazy. He does not listen to Sullivan anymore, nor does he care.

There Are Not a Lot of Options out there to replace Sullivan

Sullivan needs to be fired in Pittsburgh but there really is not a lot of people to choose from, when it comes to replacing him. You can go with Dan Quinn who is one of the assistant coaches, but he does not have a good track record as he was not a good coach with the Rangers or Sharks.

You can go with Jay Woodcroft who coached the Oilers and was fired last season when the team started 3-9-1.

There really are not a lot of options but you need to get a new voice in that locker room and do something.
