It was announced that Brandon Pridham today has joined the Penguins organization as Hockey Operations Consultant. Pridham will take over Vukie Mpofu's responsibilities which will include contract, cap management, planning responsibilities and will also take on the role of mentoring junior members on the Pittsburgh Penguins staff.
Vukie Mpofu who was in charge of Director of Hockey Operations and Legal Affairs since 2023-24 recently left the Penguins organization back earlier in the summer to take a promotion. He joined the Nashville Predators as assistant general manager which is his first chance at making that step towards general manager.
Kyle Dubas had a very good relationship with his assistant general manager during his tenure in Toronto with Brandon Pridham.
Pridham was part of the staff departures and changes as Toronto enters a whole new era of transition under the helm of John Chayka and higher ups at MLSE. With the Kyle Dubas connection in Toronto, it was very obvious that a reunion in Pittsburgh could become the most likely next move for Pridham and his family.
Brandon Pridham did have a short stint as CO-General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs following the departure of Brad Treliving on March 31, before Chayka took over.
Pridham could be a potential heir to the throne in the GM spot in the future whenever Kyle Dubas's tenure with the Pittsburgh Penguins comes to an end in the future. He has the experience and will be in a couple years time ready to make that big jump into a general manager position.
