Kyle Dubas seen scouting 2 potential Penguins draft targets

Kyle Dubas was recently seen scouting Victor Eklund and Anton Frondell in Sweden and it would be a home run if Dubas is able to draft both players for the Penguins upcoming rebuild.

Everyone that follows the NHL and this year's upcoming draft prospects, that Victor Eklund and Anton Frondell could both be selected in the top 10 of this year's draft. And it seems like Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas has his eye on both of them.

He was seen in Sweden with Wes Clark who is the Penguins Vice President of Player Personnel, scouting the two young prospects as they both play on the same team. The Penguins have 2 first-round picks in this draft as they have their own and they have the Rangers pick and both picks could potentially be used on Eklund and Frondell if the Penguins are lucky.

The Penguins might not get lucky and get both players

There is a chance that the Penguins can only select one of these players and not both. The Rangers first-round pick could roll over to 2026 if it lands in the top 13 this year which in that case the Rangers would keep this year's pick and send the Penguins their 2026 first-round pick.

This is a very real possibility as the Rangers are still trying to win games and make the playoffs but there is also a good chance that they do not have enough firepower as other teams are ahead of them and it would take a lot for them to get that second wildcard playoff spot.

If the Penguins are able to draft both players, they will be in a really good spot

Ever since last year when Dubas decided to trade away Jake Guentzel and send the Penguins into a rebuild, everyone has known that the Penguins need to collect as many prospects as they can and rebuild their farm system for the future.

They have done a good job of that so far with the likes of Harrison Brunicke, Sergei Mursahov, Rutger McGroarty and others. But if they are able to pick up Eklund and Frondell, especially with the pieces they have now in the farm system, the Penguins could be a scary team again in a few years.

Kyle Dubas is playing his cards right and doing everything that he can to rebuild the Penguins farm system and get them back into contention as soon as he can. If he is somehow able to land both Swedish prospects, the other teams in the league should honestly be scared because they are both really good players.

As stated before, the Penguins would have to be lucky to get to select both, especially with the Rangers recently falling out of the playoff picture, but never say never.
