The Pittsburgh Penguins were finally able to snap out of their funk and end their 8-game losing skid by defeating the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday night. Sidney Crosby was 2 points away from becoming the Penguins' all-time points leader.
He was able to accomplish just that as he got points on both of the Penguins' first two goals of the game and the crowd erupted and his mom, dad, and girlfriend stood up and applauded. Crosby's dad was crying and was emotional seeing his son accomplish something so great that made his son stand alone in Penguins history.
But it was what came after the game that had fans seriously upset. NHL reporter and Montreal Canadiens reporter Eric Engels put out an article about how Crosby should still ask the Penguins for a trade and pursue a Stanley Cup Championship elsewhere.
It is very insulting and frustrating that reporters still think that Crosby should want out from the Penguins and want to pursue one more ring elsewhere. Crosby has told the media for years now that no matter what happens as he gets older, he is going to retire a Penguin when either his contract is up or when he feels he is ready to.
The fact that reporters keep putting out these clickbait articles with no sources stating that Crosby wants to be traded or is going to request a trade, are baseless and have no point to them. There is no point at all in these reporters trying to ruin Crosby's milestone night and how he made Penguins history.
Reporters need to realize that Crosby is never going to go anywhere and that he has been loyal to the Penguin on his chest for years now. He is going to have played his whole career in the 412 and retire as a Penguin.
He is never going to be traded no matter how many times reporters think that he is going to request a trade or think that he should request a trade. To put that article out after how well the night went for Crosby and the Penguins, is a kick to the jaw and was absolutely unnecessary.
