The Penguins came into the second game of the dads trip and the back-to-back on a high after defeating the rival Rangers on the road Friday night. They were looking to get off to a good start and keep the momentum rolling Saturday against the Flyers. But that was not the case as they did not get great goaltending, and the Flyers got some puck luck that helped them to a 3-2 win.
Joel Blomqvist looked shaky for the Penguins as he gave up a few goals that he is definitely going to want back. He also did not play for a few weeks and usually only gets starts on back-to-backs and that also did not help him.

First Period
This period was absolutely dominated by the Penguins as they out attempted the Flyers 36-4 but again were down where it mattered on the scoreboard.
Flyers forward Scott Laughton put the home team on the board first early as he beat Blomqvist 1:44 into the contest as the Flyers only registered 2 shots on goal in the period and 1 was in the back of the net.

But later in the period came some bad puck luck for the Penguins. Defenseman PO Joseph tried to make a pass in the offensive zone and missed and the puck came all the way down to Joel Blomqvist. Blomqvist came out to play it and he hit Garnet Hathaway with the puck as he was coming at him and the puck trickled into the net.
It is definitely a goal that Blomqvist wants back, and the Penguins went into the third period trailing 2-1.
Third Period
The Penguins started out the third period as they started out the first period. By giving up the first goal of the period and it was a killer.
Flyers forward Travis Konecny took a slapshot from the point that hit off of Noel Acciari's stick and changed direction and beat Blomqvist for a 3-1 lead.
But later in the period Kevin Hayes had the answer as he put home a puck that seemed to be frozen and was blown dead, but it was reviewed and challenged and was called a good goal. The Penguins trailed 3-2.
