Yes, it finally happened, the Penguins finally beat the Devils. It has seemed for years now that they have not been able to beat this team, and it has been the same old thing every time these two teams square off. But the result was different this time around as the Penguins were led by 2 goals from newcomer Connor Dewar and Tristan Jarry stopped 24-of-27 shots in the victory.

First Period
Why is it always the fact that when the Penguins trade someone away and they face that former player, they score on them? Well it is because it is true as former Penguin Cody Glass opened the scoring for the Devils.
But Connor Dewar got the Penguins on the board late in the first period as he was in the blue paint and buried a rebound past Jacob Markstrom for a 1-1 tie.
But the Penguins were not finished yet as 25 seconds later, Danton Heinen and Phillip Tomasino went in on a 2-on-1 and Heinen buried a backhander past Markstrom off a sweet pass from Tomasino.
The Penguins took a 2-1 lead into the second period.

Second Period
There was not a whole ton of action in this period but the Penguins did add to their lead on a delayed penalty as Rickard Rakell took a sweet pass in the slot from Sidney Crosby and buried it for a 3-1 Penguins lead.
But the action was not done there as the Penguins had a late powerplay in the period and the Devils scored a shorthanded goal on a 2-on-0 but it was challenged and ruled no goal due to offsides.
The Penguins took a comfortable 3-1 lead into the third period.

Third Period
This period is where it really got interesting as Tomasino added to the Penguins lead early in the third to make it 4-1.
But the Penguins could not stay out of the box and the Devils had back-to-back four minute double minor penalties and capitalized on them both to make it a 4-3 game.
But Erik Karlsson would not let the Penguins fans go home sad as his wicked wrister on a late powerplay gave the Penguins a 5-3 lead.
Dewar added an empty netter and Kevin Hayes added one more goal as that was all she wrote from PPG Paints Arena as the Penguins won their fourth straight and defeated the Devils 7-3.
