Penguins greats headline the NHL's quarter century team in epic fashion

It was announced on Friday that legends Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin were named to the NHL's quarter century team and what an honor for both players as they are very deserving.

It should come to nobody's surprise that when the NHL released their quarter century team, that Crosby and Malkin saw their names pop up. These two guys have been going strong for a long time now and were a big reason why the Penguins had made the playoffs for 16 straight years.

It seems to be Malkin's last season when the new season begins in October, but what a ride it has been for these two as they have played every season of their careers in Pittsburgh. Penguins fans have been blessed to watch these two lace up their skates night in and night out for over 20 years and when it finally comes to an end, fans will be forever grateful.

Crosby's historic career

Every hockey fan knows just from seeing him step on to the ice, that Crosby has had a hell of a career for the Penguins. Crosby has 625 goals and 1062 assists in 1352 career games.

Crosby has done everything from win Stanley Cups to winning Conn Smythe Awards to winning every award in the book that you can name. He has scored historic goals, has made insane plays, and has always been that team first guy.

There is nobody else on the planet like Sidney Crosby and he was well deserving of making the NHL's quarter century team.

This playoff goal of Crosby's really set the tone for the Penguins to make a comeback from a 3-2 deficit in the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, force a game 7, and go on to win the Stanley Cup that year.

Malkin's historic career

Just like Crosby, every hockey fan grew up watching Evgeni Malkin and his historic career. Malkin has tallied 514 goals and 832 assists in 1213 career games. The guy has been on a mission ever since putting on a Penguins jersey.

Like Crosby, aside from winning Stanley Cups, he has Conn Smythes and other awards to his name. He has been right by Crosby's side his whole career and also has scored clutch goals and made key plays and made the city of Pittsburgh fall in love with him.

Him and Crosby are two of the most deserving players to be on the NHL's quarter century team.
