The Pittsburgh Penguins are taking on the Edmonton Oilers in a Friday Night battle in Alberta. But the Penguins have not been good against the Oilers in their history and in recent past games.

According to StatMuse, the Penguins all-time record against the Oilers is 37-41-4-4 and they have not beaten the Oilers since Dec. 20, 2019 when the Penguins won 5-2.

What Happened The Last Time These Teams Faced Off?

The last time that the Penguins and Oilers met, it was in Pittsburgh on Mar 10, 2024 and the Oilers won by a score of 4-0. The Penguins were really reeling in this game and there was no momentum whatsoever.

It seemed like the Penguins were not engaged at all and did not want to be there. Which for some parts of this season, it has felt that way.

The Penguins Need to get off to a Fast Start Tonight

The Penguins can not find themselves behind the eight-ball early tonight. They generally are not a very good team and struggle when the opponent scores first.

Especially when you are facing superstar players Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, you are going to want to score first and gather the momentum. Because these two will make you pay if you do not get on the board first.

The Return of Jesse Puljujarvi to Edmonton as a Penguin

Penguins forward Jesse Puljujarvi will be returning to Edmonton for the first time as a member of the opposing team. He was traded to Carolina the season before last but they did not make their way to Edmonton when he was there.

So he makes his long-awaited return to Alberta as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Puljujarvi has been off to a good start this season for the Penguins and hopes to score against his former team and put them on their heels.

If the Penguins want to win this one and leave Edmonton happy, they are going to have to score first and defend hard, or else it will be a nightmare.
