13 seconds left, Chris Kreider in the box, the game is all but over and the Penguins secure two massive points over the top team in the Pacific Division. Guess what, they didn't manage to win under those crazy circumstances as the penguins managed to somehow blow it and make the fans at PPG Paints Area boo them as they drop the hockey game 4-3 to the Anaheim Ducks.
All the Penguins had to do was hold onto the puck and not send it to a statue still Tommy Novak and two huge points would have been collected in what would send a message to the league. Poor coaching decisions and stupid plays by Kris Letang and Erik Karlsson cost the Penguins an extra point.
Dan Muse continues to say the phrase, "We need points right now," and somehow the Penguins self imploded and handed the extra point the Ducks way.
Pittsburgh out-shot the ducks 47-28, getting in penguins fashion goalie'd by the other teams goaltender and had points in the hockey game where they utterly dominated Anaheim, especially in the first period where the ducks had zero response to the Penguins and handed them two power-plays where the penguins cashed in on zero of those two power-plays.
Kris Letang missed the hip check and swung his stick recklessly on Beckett Sennecke who continued on and threw a shot on Arturs Silovs where it was thrown in by the hand of Erik Karlsson who for some reason was diving in the crease where he didn't need to. The ducks had only four players on the ice and did the impossible which was tie the game with 0.1 seconds on the clock off a nothing shot and last second rush.
With having multiple games in hand on the top three teams in the Metro and trailing them, Pittsburgh has blown two straight last minute leads where they failed to pickup the second point in where it could come and bite them come a playoff push if they are in that position come March and April time where they can look back at these Dallas and Anaheim games and only beat themselves up for the failure of acquiring another point.
Silovs can't save a shootout shot, Tommy Novak being deployed in overtime and going first in the shootout was one of many coaching blenders in this hockey game from coach muse and Crosby was off entirely this hockey game again. The upside of this game is they got another loser point, the Kid line with Rutger McGroarty, Benjamin Kindel and Villie Koivunen continue to gel and look more dangerous as they led at points in the 5v5 xGF percentage in the hockey game.
Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7:00 p.m. is when the Penguins will have a chance to fix and correct what went wrong against Anaheim and try to take two points from the visiting Montreal Canadiens hockey team.
