It's not everyday that you see a prospect selected in the first-round say that they model their game or wanted to play hockey because of a retired player or former phenom or legend.
But that was the case when the Penguins selected Bill Zonnon with the 22nd overall pick on Friday night. Zonnon had said that he started playing hockey because of PK Subban.
Subban was quite the player as he was mainly known for playing for the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators. Zonnon and Subban played different positions but the connection Zonnon had as Subban was his role model, is telling.

Zonnon is going to be quite the player
Every NHL fan tuned into the draft this past weekend questioned the Penguins picks in the first-round as the players they chose, seemed that they could have been had later on.
But Zonnon is going to be one of those players that does not let anyone forget about him or forget his name. He has a relentless motor and likes to drive to the net and play physical.
General manager Kyle Dubas wanted to get bigger and tougher to play against and Zonnon definitely fits that bill.
Zonnon and Subban played a similar physical game
In addition to Subban being his idol, him and Zonnon share a common trait in the fact that they are not afraid to throw their body around.
Yes Subban has not been in the league for a while now because he is retired but when you watched him, you realized that he really liked to play a physical game as a defenseman.
Zonnon is the exact same way but he plays forward. He does not let opponents get away with anything. He will line up any opponent that gets in his way and will let the opponent know that he is there.
This is the type of player that the Penguins needed and they nailed this draft pick.
