The Penguins have been trying to find their future in goal for a while and seem to have finally fixed that problem they have been trying to solve. They currently have prospect Joel Blomqvist up with the Penguins backing up Alex Nedeljkovic. While the goalies in the AHL with the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, are Tristan Jarry and Sergei Murashov.
Jarry recently got demoted because of his poor play with the Penguins and it seems he will not be called up again for the rest of the season. But when Murashov has gotten his turn behind Jarry, he has made it count.
How did Murashov get here?
Well for starters, Murashov was a fourth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft of the Pittsburgh Penguins. He was selected with the 118th overall pick. Murashov is from Yuraslavl, RUS and he currently stands at 6"0 187 lbs at 20 years old.
He has been quickly making the jump from the KHL to the ECHL to the AHL so quickly is absolutely miraculous.
Murashov's success this season
To start out this season, after finishing last season in the KHL with the Loko Yaroslavl, he made it to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.
He did not disappoint down there, with the Nailers, he went 15-3-1 with a 2.41 goals against average and a .919 save percentage in 20 games with the club. His stellar play led to him getting called up to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins of the AHL.
Sergei Murashov has won 12 games in a row for Wheeling. Has not lost since 11/1. In that time he's boasting a 94.1 save percentage and a 1.66 goals-against average. I've put together a short tape of some of his work. A longer one is coming on YouTube, consider this a teaser. pic.twitter.com/1k7e4iqyTQ

In the AHL so far, he has put up great numbers but has only played four games. He did play the other night for the Penguins and won in a shutout by a score of 9-0 as his team really had his back.
With the AHL club, he has gone 4-0 with a 1.5 goals against average and a ,950 save percentage.

The Penguins are absolutely set in goal for years to come, and it is not something they have to focus on when rebuilding this roster.
