The Penguins have been really struggling lately, and that continued Tuesday as the Penguins dropped another game and ended their homestand with a 1-3-1 record. Bryan Rust's second period goal to give the Penguins a 2-1 lead was not enough in this one as the Penguins now embark on a very long road trip after this awful defeat.

First Period

This one started out lousy yet again for the Penguins as the Kraken scored on their second shot of the game while shorthanded. Chandler Stephenson came in on a 2-on-1 and scored as the shot hit Jarry but squeaked through for a 1-0 Kraken lead.

But Phillip Tomasino had a response for the Penguins as he put home a rebound off of a point shot from Kris Letang, and it was suddenly 1-1. It was Tomasino's 5th goal of the season and was a big goal in this one.

The Penguins and Kraken took a 1-1 tie into the second period as the Penguins led in shots 16-2.

Second Period

There was not a lot to report on in this period, except for the one goal that was scored. The Penguins took a 2-1 lead over the Kraken at 4:42 of the second period as Bryan Rust potted one.

He took a nice pass from Erik Karlsson and put the puck into the open net and the Penguins had a lead going into the third period.

The Penguins took a 2-1 lead and a 28-10 shots advantage into a crucial third period.

Third Period

This period is where it really started to unravel. The Penguins fell asleep yet again and gave up 2 goals in a span of 50 seconds. Jamie Oleksiak and Eeli Tolvanen scored twice in that short span and gave Seattle the lead 3-2 middle third period.

And then the Penguins could not find the equalizer and Kappo Kakko found the empty net for the Kraken and that was all she wrote on this 4-2 defeat.

Another brutal loss for the Penguins as they begin their 7-game road trip in Buffalo on Friday night.
