The recent surge of the Pittsburgh Penguins team justifies the fact that this team can compete in the post-season. Depending on who they play, however, may be the spark that the team needs to be prepared and ready to play a well-disciplined game.

Sidney Crosby is leading the way and the depth of the team are providing ample scoring to complement the structure of the team, including the new additions to the roster, who have made a big difference in scoring for the club.

To continue their respective success on-ice through the next three games, and if successful heading into the playoffs, the Penguins must work according to the system that has brought them together to rally for a berth, including playing with the chemistry the coaching staff has put together.

The well-balanced system, however, is coming from the leadership and the skill set of the core 4, who are taking the initiative to produce and take charge in the games played. Not to mention, the process of the Pittsburgh Penguins depth that is complementing the star players on the team.

The high-octaned offense is proving to analysts that this team can play harder and compete, even though it's in the late stages of the season, but the fact that the team is clicking as a well-oiled machine means it will be clear as to what changes will be needed for next season.

The cap space in my opinion should favor the Pittsburgh Penguins' management and give it ample space to improve in the defensive end, including signing a quality forward in that manner that can play in the middle of the lineup.

The Penguins should not be discouraged in the games remaining if there is a setback of some sort, except to charge harder and with discipline and give 110 percent of their respective efforts. By keeping a keen sense of direction and playing according to the roster's current style of gameplay.

In other words, just play the game in their favor and good things will happen for the team. This is a sure-shot way of keeping in control of their fate and giving them a chance to win games. It will help with the concentration and provide ample amounts of confidence for the players to compete harder as well.

One thing is for sure, the Pittsburgh Penguins are a team with heart and soul and nothing can take that away from the players and the franchise itself.
