The Penguins goalie of the future just keeps going off and adding awards to his trophy case. This time for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins, Murashov earned "AHL Player of the Week" for the week of October 20.
Add "AHL Player of the Week" to Sergei Murashov's ever-growing list of accomplishments and accolades.

Murashov played two games for Wilkes-Barre Scranton and won both games. He stopped 51/52 shots which comes out to a .981 save percentage. He helped keep Wilkes-Barre Scranton undefeated as they beat the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Wednesday and defeated the Charlotte Checkers on Saturday.
Murashov has been an instrumental part in helping Wilkes-Barre improve to 7-0-0 going into the week of October 27. He is the future of the Pittsburgh Penguins in goal, and the Penguins definitely know that all this action in the AHL will serve him well when he eventually gets an NHL call-up.
There is no need to rush someone of Murashov's caliber as the Penguins already have Tristan Jarry and Arturs Silovs on the current roster. But come next season, the net could definitely be Murashov's where he splits it with Silovs as the future of Tristan Jarry is currently unknown.
Each time that Murashov takes the ice for Wilkes-Barre, fans definitely know that they could end up watching a special perfomance. Murashov's win over the Checkers helped him secure his second shutout of his young career in the AHL.
Murashov is being properly developed in the AHL and ideally should play the whole season down in Wilkes-Barre and then potentially get a late-season call-up to the Penguins. Murashov has the potential but the Penguins luck with goalies that they developed in the minors outside of Fleury and Murray, has not been the greatest.
But Murashov definitely seems like the real deal and the Penguins ace goalie of the future. He will get his chance at the NHL and hopefully he shines like most Penguins fans think he will. But for the time being, fans hope he continues to tear up the AHL.
