Sidney Crosby gets on the scoresheet despite stunning loss to Denmark at IIHF Worlds

It is not like the Penguins captain to lose on the international stage, but it happened, and team Canada went home earlier than expected in a 2-1 defeat to Denmark.

Sidney Crosby losing on the international stage? That is about as unheard of as it is very unheard of for the Kansas City Chiefs to lose in the Super Bowl. That does not happen very often as Crosby's squad dropped a stunner to the Denmark National Team 2-1 on Thursday by giving up 2 goals in the final 3 minutes and the winner with :49 on the clock.

It was also a stunning sight to lose this game for Canada as it was officially Marc-Andre Fleury's last professional hockey game ever and especially his last professional game with Crosby. This loss is going to make Penguins fans upset for quite some time.

Crosby receives award despite the loss

Canada announced not long after their stunning defeat, that Crosby is getting to add another accomplishment to his resume.

They named him player of the game for their squad as he picked up the primary assist on Travis Sanheim's goal late in the third period that had Canada up 1-0 before they blew it.

Crosby also had quite the tournament and should be proud of himself despite the early exit.

Penguins fans will always cherish Fleury and Crosby playing together for as long as they did

As a Penguins fan myself, it was always a treat to watch Marc-Andre Fleury and Sidney Crosby be on the same team together as long as they were.

It was extremely emotional when the Vegas Golden Knights became a team years ago and selected him from the Penguins in the NHL Expansion Draft. It left a bunch of Penguins fans with a hole in their heart as it felt like their beloved goalie was ripped from them.

One of Crosby's absolute best friends was ripped from him and it was very exciting to watch them play together one final time in the IIHF World Championships and both players should be very happy and proud of how they played and how they went out on a loss together as forever friends and teammates.
