I know what you are thinking. You want the Penguins to continue to lose games for the rest of the season and get into the top four of the draft and get a seriously impactful player. But Crosby has other ideas as he along with Tristan Jarry, have willed the Penguins to two straight wins over the Minnesota Wild and the Vegas Golden Knights.
They were beaten by the Golden Knights last Friday night in a 4-0 shutout loss, but they got their revenge on Tuesday in a 3-2 OT victory. Players in today's league are not going to try to lose games on purpose, especially players like Sidney Crosby. He is always going to try to win, he is a big winner anyway with his 3 Stanley Cup rings.
Keeping his linemates has helped
There is just something about Rickard Rakell, Crosby, and Bryan Rust being on a line together. The key to most of the offense that the Penguins have gotten this season, has come from that line.
There was a big decision to make at the recent Trade Deadline on if the Penguins should have traded Rakell or not for a haul or keep him at his current contract and see if he can help this team with their rebuild. Ultimately, the Penguins chose to keep him and it kept the captain happy.
The trio have always worked really well together and as long as they are together and helping drive the offense for the team, they are always going to have a chance to win.
Would having a young dynamic player help Crosby get back to the playoffs?
It could be debated that getting a top four draft pick this season, would seriously help the rebuild and help get Crosby back to the playoffs.
Crosby has been so established in his career, but it has been known that Kyle Dubas is trying to get Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang one or two more shots at the Stanley Cup. And having that dynamic player would seriously help those odds.
But as long as the Penguins have Crosby still around and he has not hung up the skates yet, he will never try to lose games and will always try to get the team as many wins and points as he can.
