The Pittsburgh Penguins were handed a defeat by their in-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night by a score of 3-2 in a shootout. But the loss was an eventful one as it went to overtime and even the overtime was crazy.

Evgeni Malkin won it as there was a delayed penalty and Malkin needed to wait to jump on the ice till goalie Arturs Silvos was on the bench so it was waived off. The Flyers then won it on a powerplay but was waived off due to offside. And then the Flyers won it in a shootout at the end of all that chaos.

But as the overtime period was winding down, the two teams were getting into a scuffle. At the forefront of it was Noel Acciari and Flyers forward Trevor Zegras. There were others involved like Parker Wotherspoon and Flyers forward Tyson Forester. But this is where it gets interesting.

Sidney Crosby jumped on the ice and involved himself in the scuffle at the tail end of overtime. He was essentially trying to help break it up. And he along with Acciari and the others involved in the scuffle were given misconducts and were not eligible for the ensuing shootout.

And usually when a player jumps off the bench to involve themselves in a fight or a scuffle, they get a call from NHL Player Safety about a suspension. But seems like this time Crosby was able to avoid that.

In that case, a suspension usually comes no matter who the player is. But Crosby was able to avoid that and a call from NHL Player Safety. That is a good thing for Crosby as his Penguins are getting set for two more road contests to end the week as they will face the Minnesota Wild on Thursday and the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
